How To Interpret Your Soul Trait Profile Diagram

Mussar teaches that we all have the same soul traits, but different amounts of each. Soul Traits out of balance cause us to get stuck into the same situation over and over again. Now that you’ve taken  the quiz, you have your own soul trait profile diagram.

The image is a spider graph – each spoke is a different Soul Trait. If you are low in a trait, you’ll see a point towards the middle. If you are high in the trait, you’ll see a point towards the outside.

The circle (1) represents your Divine Spark, the point of balance for all traits.

In this example, you’ll notice that this person has too little Humility (2), and too much Truth (3). This results in a person who tends to be arrogant and unkind. (That was me before I practiced Mussar. Those imbalances caused me no end of pain.)

Take a moment to look at your Soul Trait Profile Diagram, and download it and/or email it to yourself if you already haven’t. This is a first step towards understanding which parts of your soul are causing you unnecessary pain.

NOTE: We do not keep your email address or image if you use the buttons above.

A Practice Tailored For You

Mussar teaches that we each have a unique spiritual curriculum. Life will keep giving us the same test until we learn how to pass it.

American Mussar places particular emphasis on understanding where we sit along the spectrum for each of our soul traits. In a Mussar practice, we spend one or two weeks focused on each soul trait to help us move towards balance.

There is no one size fits all answer, which is why Mussar is so powerful. It recognizes that we each are unique, and it helps us look inside and bring balance and healing to those parts of the soul that cause us to get stuck.

If you learned something about yourself from taking the Soul Trait Quiz, I’d love it if you’d join me on a Mussar journey. If you are interested, you can sign up for the Taste of American Mussar Program below.

In the Taste of American Mussar Program, you’ll work on one soul trait a week for four weeks. Each week you’ll get an email with a practice prompt to help you give Mussar a try.

You can unsubscribe from the emails at any time.

Keyko Pintz, a yoga instructor, has to say about her experience with Mussar.

Mussar has given me an important tool to better understand myself and change my life. Greg teaches how to incorporate Mussar practice into every decision making process,  and encourages us to find the sacred in the daily routine of our lives. His unique way of seeing the values on a scale of proportionality rather than absolutes helps me strive for balance and goodness in all of my relationships.
